| We all ask for 10 fingers
and 10 toes, yet we are never quite prepared for that extra chromosome.
Well guess what... It's just that - Something Extra. Our children with
this extra chromosome carry with them immense love and grace to help us
understand what we can truly achieve as human beings. As a result of
this extra chromosome, we parents, grandparents, sons, daughters and
friends will become better people. Our appreciation for all who are
different will grow as a result.
Your new child with Down syndrome will grow, learn, enjoy, and embrace life just like anyone else, and we here at FADSS want to help your child achieve all that life has to offer. Raising a child with Down syndrome might appear to be a daunting task, but think of it this way... Raising any child could be viewed as daunting. All children encounter challenges & obstacles in life. The challenges and obstacles facing children with Down syndrome will just be different. All children are different, and we tend to forget this when this extra chromosome appears. So take this precious time to embrace your newest little miracle and enjoy every single minute. Before you know it, your son or daughter will want to go to the prom, have their own space, and want to move out. It happens in the blink of an eye. |
